Thinking of living in Malibu and curious as to where your children should attend school? Malibu is home to four elementary schools, two middle schools, and one high school.
On the Eastern side of Malibu, near Cross Creek, there are two elementary schools: Webster and Our Lady of Malibu (OLM). First, Webster is the largest elementary school in Malibu with 400-students ranging from grades K through five, located at 3602 Winter Canyon Road. Recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2010, Webster is proud that families view their school as a “highly valued partner in the challenging, satisfying work of raising their children” (webster). Second, Our Lady of Malibu is a Catholic school, grades K through eight, with an outstanding 100% acceptance rate to college preparatory schools. OLM is direct across from Webster, located at 3625 South Winter Canyon Road, and even sports a foreign language program. At OLM, students are expected to be people of faith, dedicated learners, community leaders, and learners of the arts (olmalibuschool). Both of these schools are highly regarded and include after-school programs as well as sports teams, while only OLM maintains a dress code.
On the Western side of Malibu, near Trancas and Point Dume, there are two elementary schools: Juan Cabrillo and Point Dume Marine Science. First, Juan Cabrillo includes students from grades K through five, currently has 273 students enrolled, and is direct across from Malibu High School Located at 30237 Morning View Drive. Juan Cabrillo hoists a great special education program and strives to teach their students good morals while setting a foundation for future learning Second, Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School is located at 6955 Fernhill Drive. Commonly referred to as Point Dume Elementary, 267 students are currently enrolled, and many people even look for Malibu homes on Point Dume so their children may go to Point Dume Marine Science Elementary School with ease. Both of these schools have a wonderful staff and high accolades from families in the community along with sports teams and after-school programs.
Finally, Malibu Middle School and Malibu High School share a campus on Morning View Drive. The schedules and classroom layout are designed so that middle-schoolers and high-schoolers have minimal interaction each day. This past year 1,120 students attended Malibu while graduating just over 170 students. At Malibu, the education program ensures “students are competitive candidates for top colleges and universities” (malibu high). In addition to top-notch educational programs, Malibu Middle and High School provide a beautiful campus just a block away from Zuma Beach, with scenic views scattered around the site.
